YouTube To Begin Demonetizing Low-Quality Content Made For Kids

Google is updating YouTube’s guidelines to promote quality content on the platform. Starting in November, YouTube will begin disabling “low quality” content for children in the main YouTube and YouTube Kids applications.

As per YouTube, videos that encourage bad behavior or contain overly commercial content are classified as inferior and dismantled.

YouTube advises that these videos receive little or no advertising and that failure to follow the guidelines will also result in exclusion from the YouTube affiliate program.

The move is part of Google’s recent efforts to make YouTube and YouTube Kids a better place for children and their families. The search engine giant also rolled out parental controls to tweens earlier this year.

More recently, however, Google has started adding new child safety features to various platforms.

Some of these security features include changing the default upload settings on YouTube, changing the visibility of the content to the most private option for teens and children.

Our ultimate goal is to create a safe and empowering environment for families while rewarding trustworthy YouTubers who create quality content for children and families.

The policy changes will take effect next month, but it will take some time to fully take effect.
