Known as the “first paying customer” in New Shepard, 18-year-old Daemen becomes the youngest person to fly into space.
Daemen graduated from high school in 2020 and took a year off before returning to school to obtain his private pilot license.
The young astronaut will study physics and innovation management at the University of Utrecht in the Netherlands from September 2021.
As per the Blue Origin official website, Daemen has been intrigued by all things space since he was 4 years old.
Daemen was offered the role of the first paying customer after the anonymous winner of the Blue Origin auction had to postpone his trip to space due to “scheduling conflicts.”
“We thank the auction winner for his generous support of the Club for the Future and we are honored to welcome Oliver to fly with us at New Shepard,” said Bob Smith, CEO of Blue Origin, on his website.
“This marks the beginning of New Shepard’s business operations, and Oliver represents a new generation of people who will help us build a path into space.”
Daemen is the son of Somerset Capital Partners CEO Joes Daemen.
Oliver Daemen’s father paid for the seat on the historic flight but decided to give his son the option.
Oliver Daemen net worth can’t be calculated because he is still a student. On the other hand, he claims that his father Joes Daemen net worth is approximately $100 million and he is a multi-millionaire and owns multiple businesses.
Who flies into space with Oliver Daemen?
Daemen and Bezos won’t be the only two on this historic journey.
Also aboard the New Shepard rocket will be Jeff Bezos’ brother, Mark Bezos, and space pioneer Wally Funk.
Funk is 82 years old and will make history as the oldest astronaut.

Blue Origin is an American private company founded by Bezos and owned by Bezos after using the sale of shares of his Amazon stock to fund the company in 2000.
