When Does Ramadan 2023 Start in Saudi Arabia?
The ninth month of the Islamic calendar, Ramadan was supposed to start on 23rd March in Saudi Arabia.
According to an Arabic media report, the first day of Ramadan will be celebrated by Dr. Abdullah Al-Massand, a former professor of astronomy at Al-Qassim University in Saudi Arabia and vice-president of the Meteorological Society, and is scheduled for Thursday, March 23.
After the sickle lit up on the 29th of Shaban just before sunset, Dr. Massand that the holy month of Shaban would have 30 days.
In addition, he mentioned that the sun and moon will align at 8:23 p.m. on March 21, or on the 29th of Shaban, the next day of the month. Consequently, he continued, March 23 will mark the beginning of Ramadan.
Previously, Ibrahim Al-Jarwan, Chairman of the Emirates Astronomical Society, also predicted that Eid ul Fitr would most likely take place on April 21st and the first day of the holy month would most likely be celebrated on the 23rd. March.
The Saudi government says the first moon sightings for the holy month will begin after sunset on March 21.
It should be noted that the eighth month of the Islamic calendar began on February 21 when the crescent of Shaban was seen in Pakistan.
