Dallas Fire-Rescue confirmed to WFAA that there was a mid-air collision between two aircraft during the Wings Over Dallas Air Show at Dallas Executive Airport.

Emergency responders responded to the Air Force Wings Over Dallas memorial exhibition at Dallas Executive Airport.

According to the FAA, at around 1:20 p.m., a Bell P-63 Kingcobra and a Boeing B-17 Flying Fortress collided and crashed on Saturday. The number of passengers on each plane was unclear, officials said.

According to the WFAA’s Jason Whitely, debris from the collision has spilled onto southbound Highway 67, sources said. Dallas police said the crash closed the southbound and northbound lanes of Interstate 67.

Videos shared on Twitter showed what appeared to be a mid-air collision between two planes before both quickly crashed, igniting a large fire and billowing plumes of black smoke into the sky.

DFR officials were not immediately aware of the pilots’ condition or reports of injuries from falling debris.

On Saturday, Dallas Mayor Eric Johnson tweeted the following:

“As many of you have seen, today at an air show we had a terrible tragedy in our city. Many details are still unknown or unconfirmed at this time. @NTSB has taken control of the crash scene with @DallasPD and @DallasFireRes_q who continue to offer support.”

Jason Villalba, president of the Texas Hispanic Policy Foundation and former Republican state representative, said he was at the air show today.

“We’re leaving at 12:00 p.m. but George and I had planned to ride the B-17,” Villalba told WFAA.

“We didn’t do it because it was full. Wow.”

The WFAA has not confirmed the presence of passengers in the B-17 crash. Online sales were available for tour tickets aboard the B-17. Each ticket costs $495.
