Valentina Gioia was a mother of two and a television director who worked on hit shows such as “Married At First Sight” has been identified as the woman who was fatally hit by a truck as she was crossing the street.
Gioia, Senior Production Manager at Endemol Shine Australia, was on her way to Leichhardt stores in west-central Sydney when she was suddenly struck by the vehicle.

What Was The Incident?
The accident happened at around 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday at the junction of Marionstrasse and Hochwasserstrasse in Leichhardt.
A dozen Witnesses and traders desperately attempted to provide first aid and resuscitation to Ms. Gioia after being hit by the truck that was allegedly driving a young father.
The NSW Ambulance Service confirmed in a statement Tuesday evening that the woman died at the scene.
“He had a phone and thought he could pass the man’s red light,” a witness told the Daily Telegraph.
“The poor driver was in shock. It’s just unfortunate and disturbing; it was a young woman dressed in sports clothes.”
What Was The Witnesses Statement?
Witnesses alleged that the young woman tragically looked at her cell phone through headphones, unaware that she was in danger.
The driver was leaning against the wall of a store on the side of a busy street in shock when police spoke to him.
The 43-year-old was also uninjured and taken to the hospital for mandatory drug and alcohol testing.
Paramedics and police came quickly, but the woman suffered a head injury and could not be resuscitated.
Her Professional Career
The 43-year-old was born in Italy and moved to Australia with her family, where she later worked as a television director for Endemol Shine on popular shows such as MAFS and Lego Masters.
She married her husband in 2011, and the couple would celebrate a decade of marriage later that year.
Tributes Paid In Honor of Valentina Gioia
After Gioia’s shocking death, her sister-in-law Lisa Tripodi said she supported her two young children Luca, 9, and Alessio, 7, and her inconsolable husband, Anthony Tripodi.
“Anthony is devastated. He never imagines something like this happening to you, your family or someone you love,” Tripodi told the Daily Telegraph.
Childhood friend Debbie Colacicco paid tribute to Ms. Gioia on Facebook and remembered her as a unique person, a ray of sunshine, unique.
Ms. Colacicco, who runs Café Ristretto & Co, said her daily presence at the store was ‘missed’ and the angels were praying to care for their children.
Her post was inundated with comments from other people who knew Ms. Gioia, many of whom called her a “wonderful woman.”
“Beautiful daughter, beautiful family, it’s devastating,” wrote one.
“It’s shocking; the world has lost a beautiful person too soon,” said another.
Some witnesses alleged that Ms. Gioai crossed the street changing the pedestrian signal.
“It was a very dark scene for our paramedics and passers-by this morning,” said New South Wales Ambulance Inspector Karl Cronan.
“The spectators who tried to help the patient before we arrived on the scene are to be commended; It was a heartbreaking scene.”
