US First Lady Jill Biden has an operation at Walter Reed to remove debris from her left foot, her spokesperson said.
Michael LaRosa said Jill Biden suffered a sting on her foot while walking on Hawaii’s beach last weekend, but that “it was not clear what object caused the sting.”
After the procedure at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Bethesda, Maryland, LaRosa said, “The wound is now clean, free from infection, and should heal well.”
President Joe Biden escorted his wife to Walter Reed for the trial. The Bidens returned to the White House on Thursday evening.
The incident happened the past weekend before Jill Biden’s two official events in Hawaii, which she visited after the Tokyo Olympics kicked off, LaRosa said.
In Walter Reed, he attended a new COVID-19 vaccination clinic in Waipahu, then joined military families for a barbecue at Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam.
