Uber Plans To Buy 50,000 Tesla Cars By 2023
Uber, the car-sharing app, has decided to add 50,000 Tesla vehicles to its current fleet to fully switch to electric vehicles by 2023.
The company is said to have joined Hertz’s car rental company. The latter announced that they added 100,000 electric vehicles to their platform yesterday.
In addition to Uber and Hertz, many transport companies are striving to reduce the use of CNG cars and become fully electric by 2030.
Uber and Hertz offer discounts for drivers who do not own a vehicle. However, they have never offered to rent certain vehicles to captains. Uber captains have to pay $334 a week to rent the Tesla Model 3 through Hertz.
Many discounts are being offered to promote the program as the program rolls out across the country to meet Uber’s goal of 50,000 electric vehicles.

Uber admits that getting captains on current rentals is difficult, but with lower fuel and maintenance costs the idea could turn out to be a success.
The drivers should have completed the required at least 150 journeys with a rating of at least 4.7 stars, only then can they rent the electric vehicle. In addition, they also have access to the Tesla Supercharger network for charging.
