UAE Will Witness A Once in A Lifetime Sight Every 50,000 Years Next Month
The residents of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) are in luck because, in the coming weeks, a comet from the outer solar system will pass close to Earth every 50,000 years.
Comet 2022 E3 (ZTF) will make its closest approach to Earth on 1st February 2023 at a distance of about 41.8 million km and will be visible in the United Arab Emirates until 5th February.
Hasan Al Hariri, CEO of Dubai Astronomy Group, said the comet’s brightness is difficult to predict, but it will be visible with binoculars and small telescopes.
To celebrate this rare event, the Dubai Astronomy Group (DAG) is hosting a special paid event at Al Qudra Desert in Dubai on February 4th from 6:30 pm. to 9:30 p.m. The event will include telescopic observations of comets, the Moon, Mars, Jupiter, and distant objects, as well as astrophotography, sky mapping, and more.
Binoculars or telescopes are recommended for those wishing to observe the comet from the comfort of their own home.
Al Hariri advised people sitting at home to use binoculars because they have a wide-angle field of view of the sky, making finding the comet much easier than using a telescope with a wide and narrow field of view.
