UAE Schools Will Soon Have A 3-Day Weekend
The United Arab Emirates (UAE) is considering introducing a three-day weekend in schools to improve student productivity, academic achievement, and social skills.
Recently, the Sharjah Private Education Authority (SPEA) conducted an in-depth study on the impact of the government’s three-day weekend strategy.
The study involved 31,198 families from 70 countries, 7,000 teachers and administrators, and 127 schools.
According to SPEA President Dr. Muhadithah Al Hashemi, the study showed several improvements in students’ overall performance, including a 77% increase in academic performance and a 78% increase in social skills.
The study also found a 74 percent improvement in students’ problem-solving skills, a 78 percent increase in academic performance on homework, an 88 percent increase in time spent with family, and a 73 percent increase in time management.
The decision to introduce a three-day weekend came after Sharjah’s Executive Council completed a study into the implementation of the system across the emirate and found that the new working structure offered several benefits.
A Three-Day Weekend in Govt Departments
Sharjah has already implemented this system in public institutions. The system has had a positive impact on the productivity of government employees in the emirate.
According to one study, public employee job performance and satisfaction increased by 90%, while overall happiness increased by 91%. Likewise, 87% of employees reported that this system had a positive impact on their mental health, 84% felt that work and family life were more balanced, 96% enjoyed weekends more, 70% attended more social events, and 62% had more free time. for exercise and relaxation.
