UAE Residents Face Massive Backlogs On US Visas
UAE residents wishing to travel to the United States (USA) may experience extreme delays during the U.S. visa application process.
As reported by the Khaleej Times, tour operators have said that the dates have been completed by September 2024, while the next date will not be available until October 2024.
Subair Thekepurathvalappil, senior director of inbound and outbound operations at Regal Tours Worldwide, said demand for US visa applications has reached unusual levels, adding that more than 20 US visit visa requests are received daily.
According to Dhas Anthony, CEO of Rejoice Travel and Tourism, the waiting time for US B1 and B2 visitor visas has been extended until September next year, which could be further extended in the near future.
Subair attributed this massive surge in demand to travel in the wake of COVID-19, leading to an increase in visa appointment times as many people want to travel abroad.
Speaking about the different visas, Anthony explained that there is an American business visa for business trips to the United States, commonly known as the B1 visa. For tourism, he added that people can apply for a tourist visa, known as a B2 visa.
The visit visa allows a person to stay in the United States for up to six months.
