UAE Private Sector Workers Receive A Bonus With No Unpaid Leave
The United Arab Emirates (UAE) Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratization (MoHRE) has announced that private sector workers are entitled to a severance package known as a gratuity.
Under the MoHRE, employees are entitled to a bonus if they have quit their job or been asked to leave them. However, for private sector employees, bonus calculation does not include unpaid leave.
MoHRE tweeted that a full-time private sector employee with more than one year of service is eligible for a tip, but does not count when calculating unpaid vacation days.

The bonus is calculated on the basis of the employee’s basic salary and paid on the basis of working days, assuming that the employee has worked continuously for one year.
Under MoHRE guidelines, employees must receive 21 days of salary for each year of service during the first five years of employment. After five years of service, the employee receives a bonus of 30 salary days for each completed year.
