UAE Launches Emirates ID & Passport Abroad Renewal Service: Here’s How
In a significant development, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) has launched a new service that allows people to renew their Emirates ID cards and passports from outside the country as well.
The Federal Identity and Citizenship Authority, Customs and Port Security introduced this change, thereby streamlining the renewal process for Emirati citizens abroad.
In order to receive this service, individuals must meet certain conditions. The most important of these is that the applicant must request the transaction in person via the agency’s dedicated smart app to ensure that they are the rightful owner of the documents. This requirement ensures the integrity and security of the renewal process.
Nasser Ahmed Al-Abdouli, Director of Customer Satisfaction Management at the Federal Identity and Citizenship Authority, Customs and Port Security, explained the Emirates ID card renewal process abroad.
In an interview with an Arabic daily, he noted that the agency now offers the renewal service exclusively through its smart app. Per the policy, applications submitted through printing centers or by anyone other than the document owner in the UAE will be rejected if the person is found to be outside the country.
During an interaction with the media, Al-Abdouli also stressed the importance of following the guidelines, especially when photographing documents. Compliance with the official dress code is also of crucial importance.
To maintain high standards and ensure the integrity of the renewal process, the agency has established nine specific criteria that must be met in order to accept personal photos submitted through its intelligent systems, regardless of age.
These are:
- Wear the official uniform of the United Arab Emirates
- Authorize the use of headgear in accordance with customs and traditions
- Use a white background
- Please provide a recent, high-quality color photograph taken within the last 6 months (35-40mm).
- Make sure the head is positioned straight and parallel to the camera lens.
- Maintain a neutral facial expression.
- Keep both eyes open and face the camera without colored contact lenses.
- Make sure the glasses do not obstruct or dazzle the eyes.
- The image resolution must be at least 600 dots per inch and free from ink smears and wrinkles
The agency urged all applicants when applying for an extension or replacement, to double-check the accuracy and validity of their identification numbers and expiration dates, as well as the accuracy of the data entered in the electronic form, prior to payment in order to avoid processing delays. their transactions, the Khaleej Times reported.
In addition, individuals are encouraged to verify the accuracy of their phone numbers, email addresses, and preferred delivery methods provided in the electronic form.
