UAE is Seeing A Surge in Refugees
Travel agencies in the United Arab Emirates have started filing numerous complaints about refugees with authorities after their clients crossed the country on tourist visas in search of work.
Despite the introduction of a job-seeking visa in the UAE, many people, particularly from Africa and Asia, still choose a tourist visa when looking for work. Because the first minimum requirement is a bachelor’s degree or an equivalent degree.
Travel agents said the growing number of people fleeing is damaging their image with immigration officials. Your visa-issuing authority also runs the risk of becoming invalid.
Rooh Tourism COO Libin Varghese noted that overruns are not uncommon, but the reason they are actively labeling them as flight cases is because of their dramatic increase. Last week, his agency recorded more than 10 leaked cases.
Travel agencies issue tourist visas under their auspices and blame them for excessive stays. They can be fined around AED 2,000 for each day of prolonged stay in the country.
As a crime, fleeing can lead to deportation and an entry ban. It is important to mention here that the new Emirates visa rules allow visit visa holders to stay for 60 days.
