UAE Companies Must Hire More Emiratis By July
The UAE’s Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratization (MoHRE) has reminded private companies to hire more Emiratis by July 1 or face sanctions.
By 2022, UAE companies with 50 or more employees were required to employ at least 2% Emirati workers as per Emiratization targets. Private companies must increase this number by 2% each year to reach 10% by 2026.

The cabinet of the United Arab Emirates revised the emirate rules this year. From now on companies have to reach a target of 1% every 6 months. The MoHRE recently tweeted that the overall plans for the Emirates have not changed but have been changed from an annual target to a semi-annual target to ensure compliance.
Any company failing to meet these targets will be fined AED 6,000 per month or AED 72,000 per year. Fines are payable in a single installment. The value of the fine will increase to AED 1,000 per year by 2026.
The ministry rewards companies that hire Emiratis under the Nafis program. These rewards include membership in the Emiratization Partners Club, improved company status in the ministry system, and discounts of up to 80% on ministry services.
