UAE Companies Are Running Out Of Time To Achieve Emirates Goals

Businesses in the UAE must meet the Emirates targets within the next four days as the deadline set by the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratization (MoHRE) is expected to expire.

The original deadline for private sector companies with 50 or more employees to meet their semi-annual Emirati targets has been extended from June 30 to July 7. This extension was granted in view of the Eid Al-Adha holiday.

Failure to meet the deadline will result in fines of AED42,000 (US$11,400) for each Emirati not hired.

As part of the Emiratization targets, companies must increase the number of Emiratis in their workforce by 2% per year through 2026. The annual goal is now split into two halves, with 1% required in the first half and the other 1% required in the second half. half of the year

Most companies had already added 2% Emiratis to their workforce by the end of 2022 and are expected to add another 1% by June 30. However, the deadline to reach 3% of Emirati workers has been extended to July 7th.

The target will increase by a further 2% each year until it reaches 10% in 2026.

Failure to comply with the emirate’s requirements will result in fines. MoHRE has urged private sector companies with 50 or more employees to meet semi-annual emirates targets by July 7 to avoid being fined AED42,000 for each unemployed emirate. The fine will be imposed at AED 7,000 per month this year, as set out in a Cabinet decision. The fines will be increased by AED 1,000 per year until 2026.

To support both job seekers and employers, the UAE rolled out updates to its Nafis platform ahead of the emirate’s mandated deadlines.

The Emirati Talent Competitiveness Council has announced updates to the Nafis platform, allowing companies to easily share career opportunities and connect with qualified Emirati talent.

The platform now offers a more user-friendly experience and allows job seekers to provide additional details about their qualifications, skills, and experience, resulting in better job matches. Job seekers can also access information about their rights, benefits, and the status of their applications.
