UAE Announced A Huge Discount On Fines For International Happiness Day
To celebrate the International Day of Happiness, the Ras Al Khaimah Public Services Department (RAKPSD) announced a 50 percent reduction in fines for residents for common misdemeanors. This discount is valid for three days, from March 20th to 22nd.
This policy applies to a wide range of offences, including littering, smoking in non-designated areas, toll violations, etc.
Established by the United Nations (UN), International Happiness Day is celebrated around the world on 20th March each year. This day underlines the importance of happiness in everyone’s life. In the United Arab Emirates, happiness and well-being are on the national agenda and the country aims to increase the overall happiness index.
Ras Al Khaimah residents can use this opportunity to pay their fines and contribute to a cleaner and healthier environment.
Discount On Fines For COVID-19
From 15th March, UAE residents caught violating coronavirus restrictions can pay their fines with a 50% discount. The Public Prosecutor’s Office for Emergencies, Crises and Disasters has announced that this offer will be valid for two months.
Fines for COVID-19 were introduced at the beginning of the pandemic and have steadily increased as coronavirus cases have risen. Penalties included an AED3,000 fine for not wearing a mask or violating social distancing rules, an AED20,000 fine for spreading false information about the virus and a fine of up to AED50,000 for violating home quarantine.
To pay these fines, individuals can visit the Ministry of the Interior (MoI) website or app and enter their Emirates ID or passport number.
