UAE Airlines Accelerates Recruitment As Service Expands
Several airlines in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) have intensified their recruitment efforts to expand their network and flight schools are in high demand and offer good salaries.
Enrollment in International Air Transport Association (IATA) certified cabin crew training programs has increased significantly, with some showing increases of around 40% since the fourth quarter of last year.
According to Blue Ocean Corporation CEO Dr. Sathya Menon, an organization that specializes in training prospective cabin crew members, they have grown significantly since the first quarter of 2022.
In particular, the number of participants in the Blue Ocean Academy cabin crew training program increased to 200 in the fourth quarter of 2022. However, this number has increased by almost 40% to 275 new students.
According to Mark Kammer, COO of Dynamic Advanced Training at the Mohammed bin Rashid Aerospace Hub, this hiring frenzy extends to domestic, legacy, low-cost, and small airlines.
In the United Arab Emirates, airlines organize extensive recruitment campaigns, both locally and internationally. While obtaining training accreditation from independent bodies can improve job prospects with major airlines, all flight attendant candidates are required to complete airline-specific training programs.
Emirates runs recruitment campaigns in 50 countries, including popular destinations such as Hong Kong, Singapore, Indonesia, North America, the United Kingdom, Spain, Denmark, Belgium, and the United Arab Emirates.
These efforts aim to prepare for the upcoming travel season and align with the airline’s plans to introduce the Airbus A350 by mid-2024.
With 18,000 flight attendants, Emirates ensures that all employees complete a special seven-week training program at Emirates Aviation College in Dubai.
In addition to Emirates, sister company Flydubai is also looking for cabin crew to expand its network. Flydubai CEO Ghaith Al Ghaith said in an interview with Gulf News that the airline has seen a remarkable 39% growth in its workforce over the past year.
