Reverse engineer Jane Machun Wong shared several screenshots of the Twitter edit button showing how the new feature will work. According to the short clip posted by Wong, Twitter users can click the three dots, select the “Edit Tweet” option from the drop-down menu, and edit the tweet.
However, reverse engineering states that the current unreleased version of Edit Tweet reloads the media (images, videos, GIFs, etc.) instead of using it. He added that the video will be converted to an image in what could be a case of “media abuse”. In response to a question, Wong said this could mean users can overwrite media by editing their tweets.

He also posted two separate tweets showing what an edited tweet and an old edited tweet should look like in the Twitter web app. In the case of an edited tweet appearing, a clickable “Edited” link will appear next to the timestamp. It is intended to show all previous versions of this tweet.
In the second case, too, Twitter notifies users of an old, unmodified version of the tweet by saying “There is a new version of this tweet” under the original tweet.
