Tricia Moses, a former P.S. 233 teacher in East Flatbush, has died after fighting COVID-19.
Moses’ journey included an autoimmune disease causing thickening of the skin and connective tissue and a successful double lung transplant.
She was often seen using an oxygen cylinder at school to help her breathe. Moses was fully vaccinated.

Moses’ exceptional career as an award-winning Brooklyn Public Schools teacher and her path through a debilitating illness and successful lung transplant are testament to both her iron will and the power of modern medicine.
None of them were able to protect her from COVID-19, which took her life last month at the age of 46, despite being fully vaccinated and diligently wearing a mask.
The Ministry of Education issued a statement in which it said: “Moisés is a heroine and an educator who has always done everything for his students. Our hearts go out to our loved ones at this difficult time, and the NYC DOE collective family mourns this profound loss with them.”
