What Are The Top 5 Ugliest Phones Of 2022?
Smartphone design continues to improve every year with smaller bezels, durable constructions, attractive colors, and unique camera configurations. But unique doesn’t always mean beautiful, as we’ve seen with a number of interesting phones in the past. Some (dis)honorable mentions include Nokia 9 Pureview, Google Pixel 3 XL, Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra, and many more.
Now that we’re in 2022, there are still plenty of quirky-looking phones out there trying to look a little ‘different’. Here’s our list of the Top 5 ugliest phones of 2022 so far.
Please note that the list is entirely subjective and you may or may not agree with it.
The phones in the top 5 list below are from various popular brands. The phones on this list aren’t necessarily bad phones, they just have unusual designs. Those who didn’t make the list weren’t ugly enough or didn’t make it out in 2022.
Xiaomi Redmi 10A
The Xiaomi Redmi 10A tops our list for obvious reasons. This horrible place on Camera Island doesn’t even use all of its space properly, leaving all the space empty for nothing.
It even includes a fingerprint sensor in one corner, along with Redmi branding and a small square for the camera cutout. The flash is part of the only camera lens crop that has never looked good on a phone.
ZTE Nubia Z40S Pro
In second place is ZTE’s Nubia Z40S Pro. It’s clear that ZTE tried to make the phone’s camera look like a digital camera, but the combination didn’t work very well. Custom Settings.
Otherwise, all the cutouts are large, and there’s even a rectangular periscope lens at the bottom. We’ve seen other phones integrate a periscope lens pretty well, but ZTE clearly fell short.
Techno Spark 8C
The Tecno Spark 8C won’t win any design awards with this ugly camera setup. For some reason it has a two-tone design on the camera module where the right-hand corner is lighter for the fingerprint sensor, making it look worse than it already is. The third camera lens below is labeled simply “AI” and even says “Dual Camera” on the side to demolish its own triple camera design flaw.
The only bright spot here is the striped pattern on the back.

Infinix Hot 12 Pro
The two large camera sensors in the corner make the Infinix Hot 12 Pro look like some kind of extraterrestrial brain piloting its army of aliens to conquer Earth.
He’s the intellectual originator of the operation, wide-eyed and threatening as you approach. If you manage to defeat the alien boss, the entire alien army will be destroyed.
That said, don’t glue the camera when you have this phone.
Lenovo Legion Y90
The Lenovo Legion Y90 is a gaming phone designed to be used in landscape mode, so it has its brain in the middle. Thanks to this, it has great thermal properties, but its lousy appearance is also a consequence of its unique design.
He is one of the alien invaders featured in the Infinix Hot 12 Pro and has eyes and a head on his stomach. It would also be a nightmare to put this alien phone on a table.
