What Was The Incident?
Officials responded to a home at 3900 South near Highland Drive in Millcreek around 6 p.m.
On Friday, a man went to the nearby unified police station and reported that another man had been shot dead in the house and that people had been killed.
There was a confrontation with officers and members of the SWAT team, in which the suspect barricaded in the house shot at the police, even when they entered the house to rescue an elderly woman.
Around 3 p.m. Saturday, Salt Lake County Sheriff (who oversees the UPD) Rosie Rivera said drones entered the home and found three dead.
Based on the photos and the description of the suspect, they assumed that one of them was the alleged shooter.
“He was extremely armed with various weapons, a lot of ammunition,” Rivera said. “We know the family was there for addiction intervention and they had some mental health issues and something went wrong.”
