Timothy George Simpkins is a student from Texas who was arrested in a shooting at Mansfield Timberview High School in Arlington, Texas.
Police said Simpkins fled the school after the shooting and were looking for him. Four people were injured and three were taken to hospital after the shooting on Wednesday October 6, 2021.
Simpkins had been on the run for several hours before being arrested and charged with a heavy battery.

Timberview High School Shooting Incident
At around 9:15 a.m., police responded to a call about a shooting on the second floor of Timberview High School in Arlington, as per the Kevin Kolbye, the city’s deputy police chief. Two of the victims were shot but are expected to survive, Kolbye said.
The suspect, Timothy George Simpkins, initially fled the scene but then surrendered without incident, authorities said. Simpkins is charged with three counts of aggravated assault with a lethal weapon, they said.
A handgun was found in the streets, Kolbye said, adding that it would be turned over to the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives. Police could not confirm whether the shooting was the weapon.
Preliminary information suggests that two students started fighting in class when they pulled out a gun, Kolbye said.
Who Were The Victims?
Two were hospitalized with gunshot wounds. One victim was slightly injured and refused to seek treatment on the spot, police said. Speaking at a press conference, Arlington Deputy Police Chief Kevin Kolbye said: “We believe there was a fight between a student and another person” which led to shooting. The victims have not been identified.
The school district announced that the high school students were being evacuated to a nearby performing arts center to meet their parents. A relative said her son called her to tell her about the shooting and told her he was in the classroom next to the crime scene.
“Thank goodness for FaceTime because I could see it and it was quiet,” he told CBS Dallas Fort-Worth. “But it’s so scary.”

Arlington Police said on Twitter: “We are looking for a suspect in today’s incident at @mansfieldisd Timberview School. Call 911 if you know the whereabouts of 18-year-old Timothy George Simpkins who could drive a 2018 Silver Dodge Charger with the license plate PFY-6260. More details on Simpkins were not immediately available.”
About two hours later, Arlington Police tweeted: “The suspect was arrested without incident and charged with aggravated assault with a firearm on several counts. Most of the students were safely evacuated from Timberview High School. Thanks for everyone’s help.”
Video Recording
A video circulating on social media shows the times when shots were fired at Timberview High School. Journalist Nerissa Knight shared the video and tweeted: “My daughter just texted me saying there was a shooting at Timberview H.S. at Mansfield ISD in Arlington, TX. She has now sent this video. His nearby school is also closed and police sirens can be heard pouring in. Police confirm that an active Sagittarius is praying”.
The 9-second video clip shows a student at a desk as he takes several recordings. One student can hear them say “Oh shit” around the classroom as the other students walk away from their desks in search of safety. At least three takes will be heard at the start of the video, and more takes will play in the background as students respond.
