These Common Traffic Offenses in The UAE Can Result in Your Driver’s License Being Revoked And Hefty Fines
Driving a vehicle in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) can be extremely difficult due to the strict enforcement of traffic rules which can land you in jail or result in hefty fines for violations.
It can be difficult to get acquainted with UAE driving license rules, especially for Pakistanis, as the rules are not enforced as strictly in Pakistan as they are in the UAE. In addition, in the United Arab Emirates, unlike in Pakistan, you hardly see anyone driving without a license.
It should be noted that violators of a driver’s license can be fined up to AED 3000 (Rs 185,161) and depending on the severity of the offense, authorities may also confiscate the offender’s vehicle.
UAE Driving License New Rules 2023
Here are the driving license rules that every driver in the UAE should know:
- Drivers with a foreign license are subject to a fine of AED 400 (Rs 24,688) unless they have permission from the UAE authorities.
- Drivers receive 12 black points plus the above penalty for driving with incorrect licenses.
- Those whose driving license has expired will receive 4 black points and a fine of AED 500 (Rs 30,860). Authorities also impounded his vehicle for a week.
- Anyone found without a license faces a fine of AED 400.
- If a person gets the maximum black points (24) on their first traffic violation and also fails to turn over their driving license, they will have to pay a fine of AED 1,000 (Rs 61,720). The second and third traffic offenses are subject to fines of AED 2,000 (Rs 123,441) and AED 3,000 respectively.
