The Largest Hypermarket in The UAE Freezes The Prices Of More Than 200 Essential Items
Lulu Hypermarket, one of the largest hypermarkets in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), has capped the prices of more than 200 key products in a campaign called “Price Lock”.
As a result, everyday items, including fresh produce, will not experience a price increase until the end of 2023. The move will provide significant relief to consumers during rising global inflation.
Salim M.A., Director of Lulu Dubai, spoke about the initiative and said it will help Lulu Hypermarket customers who are struggling with soaring prices of staples.
He further noted that the hypermarket works closely with suppliers to keep prices at current levels. The Price Lock promotion applies to all Essentials Store purchases.
Similarly, in November 2022, the UAE cabinet ordered retailers not to increase the prices of nine key products, including poultry, dairy, and bread, without obtaining approval from the Ministry of Economy (MoE).
