The Govt is Forming A New JIT, Which Includes ISI And MI Officials, By Order Of The Supreme Court To Investigate The Murder Of Arshad Sharif
The federal government has formed a new five-person investigative team (JIT) to investigate the murder of Pakistani journalist Arshad Sharif days after the country’s highest court learned of the incident.
A bench of five led by CJP Umar Atta Bandial continued the Suo Moto hearing of the case on Thursday.
After assembling a new investigative team, the federal government filed its complaint with the Supreme Court under the latest orders.
Intelligence Bureau’s Sajid Kiani, Federal Investigation Agency’s Waqaruddin Syed, Military Intelligence’s Murtaza Afzal, Inter-Agency Intelligence’s Muhammad Aslam, and Capital Police’s Awais Ahmed have been appointed to the JIT to investigate the murder.
Authorities may contact Interpol to arrest suspects in the case, local media said.
