Texas Electricity News: Today, the Texas Electrical Reliability Council urges all Texans to reduce their electricity usage as much as possible from today through Friday.
According to ERCOT, a significant number of forced power outages combined with record-breaking potential power consumption for the month of June resulted in tight grid conditions.
ERCOT has issued a Conservation Alert, and Texans are being asked to safely reduce their electric use.

- Turn off unnecessary lights and appliances.
- Increase the thermostat by 2-3 degrees.
- Set programmable thermostats to higher temperatures when nobody is home.
- Use fans to make you feel 4 to 6 degrees cooler.
- Limit the use of large appliances such as dishwashers and dryers.
- If you’re cooking indoors, use a microwave or slow cooker.
- In the late afternoon, close the blinds and drapes.
- Schedule pool pumps to run early in the morning or at night.
