Taylor Hackel, a graduate student at a Catholic institution in Washington, D.C., was reported missing on Wednesday. The nearby Catholic University of America is asking for information on his whereabouts and is organizing a rally to pray for her safe return.
Ms. Hackel is a student at the Pontifical John Paul II Institute for Marriage and Family Studies, located on the AUC campus. The Wisconsin native was last seen on 24th October and was reported missing two days later.

Missing Wausau Woman
An Oct. 28 email sent to students by the university’s Vice President of Communications, Karna Lozoya, said Hackel was last seen on Oct. 24 at the 600 block of Northeast Jackson Street, not far from the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Draft.
Lozoya said members of the JPII Institute community had planned to pray the rosary for her at 1 p.m. Friday at the National Shrine of St. John Paul II (Chapel of the Luminous Mysteries) at 3900 Harewood Road and everyone was invited to attend.
“Please contact MPD … if you have any information about Taylor, and please join us in praying for her safe return,” Lozoya concluded.
As of Friday afternoon, there was no news of Hackel’s whereabouts.
Taylor Hackel Education
Hackel graduated from Wausau Newman Catholic High School in Wausau, Wisconsin in 2016, according to an article in her home newspaper. While attending the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in chemistry, She was active in several charities:
- Food distribution at the Salvation Army
- Volunteer in hospitality and kitchen duties for a Catholic Charity Warming Center
- Correspondence with prisoners
She also prayed frequently with the Franciscan Sisters of Perpetual Adoration at La Crosse.
Police Investigation Report
Hackel is described in the DC Police Bulletin as 5-foot-4, 130 pounds, with blonde hair and blue eyes, and is last seen in a tan sweater, white shirt, and black pants.
