Sultan Al Neyadi (سلطان النيادي) is an Emirati astronaut and, along with Hazza Al Mansouri, one of the first two astronauts from the United Arab Emirates. Sultan Al-Neyadi‘s historic achievement as the first Arab astronaut has taken the UAE’s space program to a new level and opened up new opportunities for the country’s ambitions in this area.

Sultan Al Neyadi’s Early Life & Education
He spent his youth in his grandfather’s house. He attended Um Ghafa Boys Primary School and Um Ghafa Secondary School. His father was a member of the United Arab Emirates Armed Forces. He is an avid Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu practitioner and began training in the sport in 2016.
Sultan joined the UAE Armed Forces after graduating from high school. He graduated from the University of Brighton in 2004 with a BSc (Hons) in Electronics and Communications Engineering. After his selection as one of the first two Emirati astronauts, the university’s vice-chancellor Debra Humphris said: “We are very proud of our graduate.” and we will do it. I will follow your efforts as an astronaut with great interest.
He returned to the United Arab Emirates and spent a year at Zayed Military College. He was a communications engineer in the United Arab Emirates Armed Forces.
In 2008, he moved to Australia to pursue a Masters in Network and Information Security at Griffith University. He returned in 2011 to earn a doctorate in data leak prevention technology.
Family
Well, the first Arab space, Walker Neyadi, is a married man. Although he did not reveal his wife’s details, it is said that he has six children from his marital relationship.
He, his partner, and their children have lived in the United Arab Emirates for years. Well, the proud father posted a photo of his children on his Instagram a few days before the mission and promised them that they would return soon.
Astronaut Career
After a series of physical and mental tests in the United Arab Emirates and Russia, Al Neyadi was one of two people selected from 4,022 applicants to become the first Emirati astronaut.
At the Mohammed bin Rashid Space Center, he followed the United Arab Emirates’ astronaut program.

It was later announced that Al Mansouri would carry out the first mission and Al Neyadi would be his successor. This means that Al Mansouri was preparing to become the first person from the United Arab Emirates to fly into space, while Al Neyadi was preparing to step in and control the mission in case something happened to Al Mansouri that was his would endanger the ability to fly completely the mission.
Al Mansouri embarked on an eight-day mission to the International Space Station aboard Soyuz MS-15 on September 25, 2019, before returning to Earth on October 3, 2019.
MBRSC and Roscosmos are in talks to fund a six-month trip to the ISS for a crew member from the United Arab Emirates, which would be the Arab world’s first long-term space mission. Al Neyadi is the obvious choice for this mission.
However, in April 2022, MBRSC said it had purchased a seat from Axiom Space for an astronaut from the United Arab Emirates to travel to the ISS as part of NASA’s SpaceX Crew-6 crew rotation trip. Al Neyadi officially received this seat in July and will arrive in space for the first time in March 2023. Al Neyadi became the first Arab to perform a spacewalk on April 28, 2023.
