Stefan R, a teacher from Berlin, was sentenced to life imprisonment for murder for killing another man who, according to the judge, was executed in “cannibalism fantasies”.
As per German data protection law, after a trial opened in August, Stefan was also found guilty of disturbing the peace and quiet of the dead.

What Were The Murder Charges?
The Berlin district court found that the defendant killed a 43-year-old mechanic in September 2020 “to live out his cannibalistic fantasies,” reported the DPA. “What he did was inhuman,” said Chief Justice Matthias Schertz.
As per the investigators, the men met on a dating site and agreed to have sex in the teacher’s apartment in Berlin. The court found that the defendant killed his acquaintance there, cut up his body, and left parts of it in different parts of the city. He said the victim did not expect an “attack on his life”.
The defendants had “increasingly developed ideas of killing and cannibalism” and attended online cannibalism forums, said Schertz. Investigators found a bone saw and special knife in his apartment.
Prosecutors said the defendant cut off the victim’s genitals to eat, and the judges agreed, the DPA reported. It could not be determined whether he achieved this goal.
The police searched for the missing mechanic for weeks before walkers found bones in a Berlin forest. The court ruled that the defendant has a “particularly serious” responsibility, so that after 15 years he is not entitled to automatic parole, which is customary in Germany.
The defendant denied the allegations, saying that he found his friend dead after a night on a bus and had not called the police or an ambulance “because it turned out that I was gay”. The defense requested his acquittal.
What Was The Trial?
During the trial, Stefan R informed the court that he found the man dead in his living room the morning after sex and, in a panic, decided to dispose of his body.
With a rental car, he distributed the body to various locations in the north of Pankow. Only the victim’s sex organs were missing.

“Sexual fantasies or butcher’s fantasies are not a crime,” demanded his defenders in the process of his acquittal. They argued that the engineer may have died from the drug cocktail he ingested.
But prosecutors said the criteria for the murder were met because the victim was lured into a trap and the killer acted to satisfy her sexual urges and permit a new crime.
The case is reminiscent of that of a famous German cannibal, Armin Meiwes, who was imprisoned for life in 2006.
However, there was a significant difference in that the meiwes victim was interested in cannibalism.
