Starting 15th June, The Ban On Working Outdoors Will Apply in The UAE
The United Arab Emirates Ministry of Human Resources and Emirates (MoHRE) has announced a ban on working outdoors and in direct sunlight during the hottest months of the year.
The ban on working outdoors, also known as lunch breaks, officially comes into force from 12:30 PM to 3 PM everyday to protect them from possible dangers. and diseases in summer.
In addition, certain essential works such as asphalt work and emergency repairs that affect public safety are exempt from this ban. Works affecting traffic and services are also exempt from the tax if they obtain the necessary permits.
It is important to note here that employers in time off work are required to provide their employees with water, shade, first aid kits, and other essentials to ensure their well-being during work and breaks.
A fine of AED 5,000 per worker can be imposed for violating the prohibition, with a maximum of AED 50,000 for multiple violations. Authorities have urged the public to report any violations through the 24-hour call center.
In addition, the ban limits daily working hours to eight hours and require employers to provide shaded areas to allow workers to be comfortable during downtime.
Earlier, Mohsen Al-Nasi, Deputy Secretary of State for Inspection Affairs, stressed the importance of ensuring the health and safety of workers. Compliance rates have been high in recent years, showing how serious the UAE is about protecting workers from the country’s deadly heat.
