Some Members Of The Royal Family Were Opposed To Protecting Meghan Markle: Prince Harry
Prince Harry has said some members of the royal family have argued that Meghan Markle shouldn’t be given protection because they believe their wives don’t have protection either.
The Duke of Sussex explained this in the second episode of his Netflix documentary. He did not name any members of the royal family.
Regarding media reports against Meghan, the Duke said: “The palace administration did not want to say anything.”
Regarding the palace’s instructions on media coverage, Meghan said: “No comment. Everyone says no comment.”
Harry said: “But what people need to understand is that for a lot of family members, whatever they went through was forced on them too. So it was like a rite of passage.”
He said: “Some family members said, ‘My wife had to go through this. So why should your girlfriend be treated any differently? Why should she get special treatment? Why should she be protected?’ And I said, ‘The difference here is the racial element.”
