Sacramento police have arrested a second suspect Smiley Martin in Sunday’s mass shooting that killed six people and injured a dozen others near a downtown nightlife district.
Smiley Martin, 27, was arrested for possession of a firearm by a prohibited person and for possession of a machine gun, the Sacramento Police Department said in a statement Tuesday.

Arrested and Charged
Martin is the older brother of 26-year-old Dandrae Martin, who police arrested on Monday and named a “related suspect” in the incident. Young Martin is charged with assault and illegal possession of a firearm.
Sacramento District Attorney Anne Marie Schubert noted in a statement Monday announcing the gun charges against Dandrae Martin that he was not arrested for the April 3 murder.
Detectives were executing warrants for at least three homes as they searched for a motive in the shooting, which allegedly involved “multiple” gunmen.
Investigators recovered more than 100 spent bullet casings at the scene, along with a stolen handgun that police said had been “converted into a weapon that can fire automatically.”
