Sindh Govt Announces Rs 1.7 Trillion Tax-Free Budget 2022-23
Sindh Prime Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah handed over Rs. 332 billion on Tuesday.
The Prime Minister said that the Sindh government’s total revenue for the next fiscal year would be Rs. 1.67 trillion against expenditures of Rs. 1.71 trillion, resulting in a budget deficit of Rs. 33.84 billion.
A sum of 115 billion rupees has been allocated for the Sindh Police and 13 billion rupees for transport projects. The provincial government expects the service sales tax to bring in Rs. 180 billion in the next fiscal year.
Apart from these huge expenses, Rs. 30,000 crore has been allocated to the power sector to save the province from a power crisis. An amount of Rs. 5,000 crore has also been allocated to the Safe City project.
In light of the recent security threats in the province, the government has allocated a budget of Rs. 132 billion for law and order. Rs. 220 billion has been allocated to the health sector. In addition, an amount of Rs. 17,500 crore has been allocated as a health risk allowance. The Sindh Institute of Urology (SIUT) budget has been increased to Rs. 10,000 crore from Rs. 7,000 crore, the minister announced.

The total spending on education would be Rs. 326 billion. An amount of Rs. 4,000 crore was also granted for social protection. Apart from that, Sindh Government has also allocated Rs. 224 billion for water supply and sewage system.
