One of the seven emirates in the United Arab Emirates, Ras Al Khaimah, has allowed businesses and commercial establishments to operate around the clock during the holy month of Ramadan to bring relief to locals and tourists.

Ras Al Khaimah’s Ministry of Economic Development issued a notice on Friday saying shops and businesses will no longer need permits to operate during the extended opening hours during the holy month.

Similarly, Sharjah has also allowed restaurants, bakeries, and coffee shops to operate after midnight without requiring a permit, while other business activities require a permit to do so.

Application for Umrah in the United Arab Emirates

Religious activities during Ramadan experience a significant increase, likewise, the demand for umrah in the UAE has also tripled compared to the same period in 2022. Travel agents attribute this surge to spring break, which coincides with the first half of the holy month.

Bait al Ateeq Hajj Services CEO Shebin Rasheed said large numbers of UAE residents travel to Mecca to perform Umrah. He said they were dealing with three times as many pilgrims from the United Arab Emirates and many families wanted to bring their children because of the school holidays.

To meet the demand, airlines such as Emirates, Flydubai, Air Arabia, and Flynas are offering affordable umrah tickets, he added.
