Several Schools in Dubai Are Refusing To Increase Fees For The Third Year in A Row
Although the Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA) has approved an increase, several schools in Dubai have decided to keep their current fees.
The Indian High Group of Schools, which operates three campuses in Dubai and teaches the Indian curriculum, sent a letter to parents informing them that the fees will not be increased for the third straight year.
In the letter, the school said: “We are deciding, just like last year, to maintain enrollment this year and to maintain the status quo. We firmly believe that we must support all of our stakeholders to ensure they continue to have access to quality learning without having to deal with the added pressure of rising tuition fees.”
The Indian school has more than 9,000 students enrolled at its Oud Metha, Garhoud, and Dubai Silicon Oasis campuses.
Increase in School Fees
Earlier this month, the KHDA allowed private schools to increase tuition by 3% in the 2023-24 school year. The decision was made taking into account the current economic conditions in Dubai as well as the cost of running private schools in order to maintain quality education.
The amount schools can increase the tuition fees depends on the inspection qualification they have obtained from the Dubai Schools Inspection Office. Under the rules, private schools can increase fees by 3% while maintaining the same level of inspection.
However, schools that have experienced a drop in their inspection score are not eligible for a fee increase.
