Senator Azam Swati’s Leaked Footage is Fake, FIA
PTI Senator Azam Swati broke down in tears in front of the media on Saturday, expressing his wife’s surprise at receiving a video of them together and his inability to release more information as “the girls in my country are listening”.
Swati, who was arrested on 31st October in connection with a case against him over a controversial tweet and is currently out on bail, has claimed he was tortured while in detention.
In his opening remarks at today’s press conference, Swati quoted an earlier media interview in which he claimed that he had not committed any corruption and that no one, including “influential circles”, had produced “immoral videos” of him.
“I was completely wrong,” he said, blaming elements within the establishment for his ordeal.
According to Swati, his wife called him from Islamabad around 9 p.m. yesterday. He added that she kept screaming and crying and that he needed to urge his daughter to talk to his wife and find out what was going on.
He further said that his wife told him that she received a video of him from an unknown source. I cannot continue because my nation’s daughters and granddaughters are listening.
The senator said his daughter, crying, revealed to him that his wife was also in the video.
“I asked how that was possible,” the senator said, bursting into tears. He added that his daughter also told him that the video showed Swati and his wife visiting Quetta.
Referring to the trip, the senator said Senate President Sadiq Sanjrani, who is caring for his wife, arranged for them to be housed in the Supreme Court’s judicial pavilions in Quetta.
“There you (Sanjrani) established the protection of a senior senator and your aunt (Swati’s wife) in the Supreme Court.”
Overcome again with emotion, Swati lamented that his wife had to leave the country and go to a “safe area”.
He regretted that his granddaughters “had to leave the country, even with trauma and scars.”
“I ask God, is this Pakistan where the holiness of husband and wife [is not safe?],” he said.
Swati had previously documented her “detention torture” on 1st November, and this was the second time she published her account of an alleged ordeal.
Imran Khan Asks The CJP To Take Note Of The Suo Motu
After today’s press conference, PTI leader Imran Khan tweeted that Pakistan was founded on the Islamic moral values of human dignity, family honor, and the sanctity of chadar and charwari. Imran Khan previously exposed the alleged torture of Swati.
“What happened to Azam Swati at the hands of the state was a blatant violation of all those values, from nudity to torture in prison and now this video violating his wife’s privacy.”
“This is shocking, despicable, and absolutely reprehensible at the same time. Nobody should suffer from it. I ask the CJP (Chief Justice of Pakistan) to pay attention to Suo moto.”
