The Senate Health Committee’s sub-committee has directed the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) to revoke the registration of medical colleges that fail to refund fees.
Chaired by Senator Palwasha Khan, the meeting addressed cases like two Afghan students from Sargodha University, who reported the institution withholding their degrees. Officials clarified that colleges cannot raise fees at admission, and PMDC vowed strict action against non-compliant institutions.

PMDC encouraged students to report grievances, noting fear of retaliation often prevents complaints. The Private Medical Association disputed PMDC’s authority to regulate fees, but the committee upheld its directive for decisive action.
The committee also requested updates on fee refunds within two weeks and supported potential legal amendments to strengthen PMDC’s authority.
