The Punjab government has decided to reopen schools in select districts amid the third wave of the COVID-19 pandemic in the country.
Provincial Education Minister Murad Raas posted a copy of the notice on Twitter stating that all public and private educational institutions in Bahawalnagar, Jhang, Nankana Sahib, Sahiwal, Chakwal, Jhelum, Narowal, Sheikupura, Chiniot, Kasur, Pakpattan, and Sialkot are opened. , Hafizabad, Mandi Bahuddin, Rajanpur, and Vehari from Monday (May 24th).

Public & Private Schools of Punjab in the following Districts will open for 4 days a week. Schools will be allowed to call students on alternate days with 50% attendance starting Monday May 24, 2021. The district educational institutions open schools four days a week and are allowed to call students on alternate days with a 50% attendance rate.

“All authorities concerned must ensure that the COVID-19 Standard Operating Instructions (SOPs) are adhered to verbally and spiritually. The schools are open 4 days a week, with each child being present for 2 days,” it says in the Message.
He said the decision to reopen schools in the remaining counties will be taken at the next meeting. The decision was made after the National Command and Operations Center allowed schools to reopen in districts where the COVID positivity rate is less than 5 percent.
