Private schools in Islamabad are gearing up to reopen on Monday, January 6, sticking to their original schedule despite the ongoing cold weather. The Private Educational Institutions Regulatory Authority (PEIRA) has clarified there will be no changes, easing concerns among parents about a possible extension of the winter break.
Meanwhile, schools under the Federal Directorate of Education (FDE) will resume classes a bit later, on January 9, 2025.
In Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK), the situation is different. The cold wave has prompted the AJK Education Department to extend the winter vacation, with schools now set to reopen on February 6 instead of February 2.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has also made adjustments, with schools reopening on January 7, a change from the earlier date of January 1. In Punjab, both public and private schools will remain closed until January 10, with classes starting on January 13.
Colleges in Punjab, however, are on a different timeline. The Punjab Higher Education Department has announced that they will reopen on January 6 after a break that began on December 24, 2024.
These varying schedules reflect how different regions are responding to the winter season, balancing academic priorities with the weather conditions.
