Saudi Arabia Issues The Extended Eid Al-Fitr Holidays
The Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development (MoHRSD) has announced the holiday of Eid Al-Fitr for the private and non-profit sectors in Saudi Arabia. The holidays start on Friday, April 21st, and end on Tuesday, April 25th.
Similarly, workers will have another four-day break for Eid Al-Adha at the end of June this year, according to the implementing regulations of the Saudi Arabian Labor Law.
In another announcement, Saudi Arabia urged residents to donate to “Sadaqah Zabiha,” a charity that involves sacrificing an animal during Ramadan. The cost of a camel is $2,399 while a goat or sheep costs $295.
Long Eid Holidays For UAE Residents
Residents of the United Arab Emirates also have a long weekend to look forward to, as the Eid Al-Fitr holiday approaches in about two weeks.
Ibrahim Al Jarwan, chief executive officer of the Emirates Astronomical Society (EAS), said Eid Al-Fitr is expected to fall on Friday 21. The official holiday of the Islamic Hijri calendar is a four-day period, from 29 Ramadan to 3 Shawwal 1444.
This year, Ramadan began on March 23 and lasts 29 or 30 days according to the lunar calendar.
