Saudi Arabia Issues A New Short-Term Work Visa
Saudi Arabia has introduced a new temporary work visa system, allowing companies to issue short-term visas for up to three months, with the option to extend them for a further three months.
To apply for a temporary work visa online, the applicant needs to follow the following steps:
- Sign in to the company account on the Qiwa platform.
- Select E-Services service for temporary work visas.
- Then fill out all required fields and submit the application.
It is important to note that only the employer or a Qiwa Trade Commissioner can apply.
According to the website, once the online work visa application is submitted through the Qiwa platform, it will be issued immediately without any additional documents.
However, the business must be active and have a valid business registration, with the exception of certain reportable activities.
The company must have a nitaqat level of at least half green. Nitaqat is a program that ranks companies based on their rate of Saudiization.
If the company has multiple units with the same unique number, there must be no expired work permits and sufficient balance on the company’s national unique number in Absher. Absher is an online platform that offers various electronic services to residents and businesses in Saudi Arabia.
A visa application can be rejected for two reasons. Firstly, when the company’s unique Absher account number is not enough. Secondly, if the refusal comes from the Ministry of the Interior.
Please note that issued visas can be canceled and government fees are refunded to the company. Refund is subject to terms and conditions.
