Realignment Of The IMF Program To Rebalance The Economy, Says PM Shehbaz
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said the revival of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) program offers Pakistan a way to rebalance its economy.
In a message shared on social network Twitter, the prime minister said that while reviving the IMF program is essential for Pakistan’s economy, it is not an end in itself as it offers the country a path to rebalancing its economy.
The prime minister urged his compatriots to work hard to put Pakistan’s economy on the path to self-sufficiency. While emphasizing the need for structural reforms, he said Pakistan must break through the economic straitjacket, which can only be done through structural reforms.

The PM’s comments come hours after the IMF’s Executive Board relaunched Pakistan’s Extended Financing Facility (EFF) program and approved the disbursement of $1.17 billion to the country.
