Rachel Uchitel Desires To Leave Tiger Woods $8 Million NDA
When her affair with married Tiger Woods became known in 2009, Rachel Uchitel signed a 30-page nondisclosure agreement which she says has controlled her life ever since.
Other people can, of course, talk about her and the star golfer online and in the media, and she’s tired of quietly watching her being called a wanderer, lover, castaway and prostitute. She would speak for herself, reports The NY Times, if it weren’t for this document. “I got it with NDA,” Uchitel said.
In return for signing the NDA, he negotiated an $8 Million payment from Woods: $5 Million up front, then an additional $1 Million per year for three years.
After taxes and the cup of famous lawyer Gloria Allred, Uchitel was left with $2 million. And the Woods team didn’t want to make the annual payments.
The terms of the NDA are so broad that they prohibit Uchitel from acknowledging that he signed them. She filed for bankruptcy after being interviewed for an HBO documentary on Woods; “I wanted to be the one to tell my story for once,” Uchitel said.
That year, he received bankruptcy protection, as per the online media sources. But a lawyer for Woods is now trying to end that protection, apparently so that Uchitel can be sued for violating the NDA by the millions. The lawyer he trusted to handle his case has passed away and Uchitel feels lonely.
She says Allred got her case wrong, billed her $1 Million for less than a week’s work and at the same time brokered deals with Woods’ attorneys for five to ten other women at the same time that his business.
Uchitel said she collapsed during the screening of a mental health documentary produced by Prince Harry and Oprah Winfrey. “Who will speak for those of us who don’t have Oprah or a prince to save us?” She asked.
