Queen Elizabeth Stripped Prince Andrew Of His British Veterans Charter Titles
More than 150 veterans of the Royal Navy, Royal Air Force, and British Army have written to the Queen asking her to strip Prince Andrew of his ranks and titles in the armed forces.
The 95-year-old head of state is the supreme commander of the army, navy, and air force.
“If this were any other senior officer, it is inconceivable that he would still be in office,” they wrote in a joint letter released by the anti-monarchist lobby group Republic.
“Officers in the British Armed Forces must uphold the highest standards of probity, honesty, and honest conduct.”
“These are standards that Prince Andrew far surpasses,” they said, adding that he had “discredited the services he is associated with.”
High-ranking members of the British royal family were appointed honorary heads of military units, usually with the Queen’s approval.
