Students and parents, mark your calendars! Punjab’s Education Department just announced classes for the 2025-26 session will start from April 1.
But before that, the current year’s annual exams are around the corner. Starting March 10 and finishing by March 20, exams will take place in all 42,000+ government schools statewide. Nearly 6.5 million students are expected to sit for these exams. Report cards will be out by March’s end, just in time for the new term.

Big shifts are coming for matric students, though. The Punjab Curriculum and Textbook Board overhauled the grading system for Islamic Studies and Pakistan Studies. Both subjects now carry 100 marks each instead of 50. Ninth graders will tackle Islamic Studies exams, while tenth graders face Pakistan Studies.
Fresh textbooks reflecting these updates have already been drafted, and printing is in full swing. Education authorities say the move aims to help students grasp core subjects more deeply and raise the bar for learning outcomes.
