The Punjab government has directed private schools to submit detailed transportation plans for their students that will comply with Lahore High Court (LHC) orders. This initiative is all about student safety and addressing environmental concerns.
The Punjab School Education Department (SED) has instructed schools to provide these plans by the end of the winter break. Schools failing to comply may face suspension of their registrations. SED Secretary Khalid Nazir Wattoo explained that private schools must outline how they will arrange transportation for at least half of their students. They are also required to share data on student enrollment, available buses, and the number of students using school transport.

The Lahore High Court previously allowed a one-month period for schools to renew their registrations while adhering to its bus facility policy. Justice Shahid Karim emphasized that schools failing to meet the requirements would have their registrations canceled. Any incomplete or inadequate plans will lead to immediate action.
Lahore’s District Education Authority (DEA) Chief Executive Officer Nazeer Hussain Chheena has also asked schools in the city to submit data on recent bus purchases. Well-known institutions like Lahore Grammar School, Beaconhouse, City School, and Lacas have been notified. Non-compliance will result in strict penalties, including registration cancellations.
