Punjab Govt Announces To Provide Free Education Up to Graduation
Chief Minister (CM) Punjab Chaudhry Parvez Elahi has announced free education up to graduation in all government educational institutions.
The announcement came after CM Punjab raised the national flag in an official ceremony at Lahore Fort to celebrate the country’s 75th Independence Day.
Speaking at the ceremony, CM Punjab said that during his previous tenure as CM from October 2002 to October 2007 he did the education up to matriculation for free.
In addition, CM Punjab also paid a heartfelt tribute to the martyrs of the armed forces and police who sacrificed their lives to eradicate terrorism and bring peace to the country.
He added that people of all religions reside in the country and have played crucial roles in Pakistan’s development, saying it is everyone’s duty to show them the respect they deserve.
CM Punjab also asked the public to remember the oppressed citizens of illegally occupied Indian Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) in their prayers for the Diamond Jubilee of Pakistan’s Independence.
In addition, CM Punjab has also announced cash prizes for those who attended the official ceremony. He announced 300,000 rupees for special children singing national songs, 200,000 rupees for boy scouts, and 100,000 rupees for the police band.
Finally, CM Punjab also visited Allama Iqbal Mausoleum and laid a wreath. The flag ceremony was also attended by consuls-general from various countries, including the United States, China, Turkey, and Iran, as well as provincial ministers.
In a related development, CM Punjab earlier this month announced free education for the children of Punjab police martyrs.
He made the announcement to mark Police Martyr Day, which is celebrated annually on August 4 across the country to commemorate the victims of police officers.
