Punjab Announces Another Winter Vacation Program For Schools And Universities

The Punjab govt changed the winter vacation schedule for public and private educational institutions for the second time this month.

As per an official announcement from the School and Education Department (SED), the winter break in schools in 36 districts will be observed in two phases.

In the first phase, the schools in 24 districts will take a winter break from December 23, 2021, to January 6, 2022. The schools will reopen on January 7, 2022. These districts include:

  • Kasur
  • Sialkot
  • Narowal
  • Faisalabad
  • Sahiwal
  • Gujrat
  • Gujranwala
  • Pakpattan
  • Sheikhupura
  • Okara
  • Vehari
  • Khanewal
  • Lahore
  • Khoushab
  • Hafizabad
  • Multan
  • Lodhran
  • Bahawalpur
  • Bahawalnagar
  • Sargodha
  • Mandi Bahauddin
  • Sialkot
  • Nankana Sahib
  • Jhang

Schools in 12 districts will take a winter break from January 3-13, 2022. They will reopen on January 14, 2022. The decision to postpone holidays in 12 districts was made in order to increase COVID-19 vaccination rates among students. These districts include:

  • Jhelum
  • Mianwali
  • Attock
  • Muzaffargarh
  • Chakwal
  • Bhakkar
  • Rawalpindi
  • Rajanpur
  • Layyah
  • Rahim Yar Khan
  • Dera Ghazi Khan
  • Chiniot

Punjab Education Minister Dr. Murad Raas said Friday that the winter holidays will be observed in public and private schools in all counties in the province from January 23, 2021, to January 6, 2022.

Earlier this month, the Punjab Higher Education Department (HED) initially announced the closure of educational institutions from December 21, 2021, to January 2, 2022.
