PTA Announces New SMS Code 9999 For Flood Relief Donations
Pakistan’s Telecommunications Authority (PTA) on Friday rolled out the 9999 SMS shortcode, which mobile subscribers can use to donate to the Prime Minister’s Flood Relief Fund 2022.
Users can donate 10 rupees to the Flood Relief Fund by typing ‘fund’ in the SMS option and texting 9999.
According to a related notice from the PTA, all telecom operators will notify the National Disaster Management Authority of the donations received.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif had called on the nation, ex-pats, philanthropists, and charities to come to the aid of those in need.
The federal government earlier this month set up the Prime Minister’s Flood Relief Fund 2022 to bolster ongoing financial relief efforts for victims of devastating floods. Cash assistance for flood victims can be deposited into Flood Relief Fund account number ‘G-12164’.
