PML-N govt is withdrawing the names of Prime Minister Shehbaz, Nawaz Sharif, and Maryam from the ECL
The Interior Ministry crossed at least 100 names from the exit checklist, including Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, PML-N Supreme Nawaz Sharif, Vice President Maryam Nawaz, and other party leaders.
According to the notice released on Saturday, the federal government removed the names of Shehbaz Sharif, Nawaz Sharif, Maryam Nawaz, Khaqan Abbasi, and her son Abdullah Khaqan, Miftah Ismail, Ahsan Iqbal, former OGRA President Uzma Adil and other members of the Non Flight list.
The names of these figures were included in ECL at the recommendation of the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) and the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA).
The names of prominent bureaucrats and businessmen were also removed from the list.
Maryam Nawaz’s name was added to the ECL following her involvement in the Chaudhary Sugar Mills case in 2019 and Shehbaz Sharif’s name was added as a result of the FIA’s investigation into a silver money laundering case.
